Dr. Gaston De La Garza is one the few plastic surgeons in Mexico who has received rigorous military and medical training, making him a highly ethical and exceptional surgeon. Dr. De La Garza graduated from the Military School of Medicine in Mexico City in 1981 with a Medical Degree of Surgeon-Major. In 1982, he completed his postgraduate studies and rotation internship at the Central Military Hospital where he discovered his skills and passion for surgery.
In 1985, Dr. Gaston De La Garza completed his General Surgery Residency program at the Military Hospital in Guadalajara Jalisco, Mexico where he developed a desire to change people’s lives through innovative surgical techniques. Thanks to his excellent performance in Medical School and General Surgery Residency, Dr. De La Garza was admitted to the Guerrero Santos Reconstructive, Esthetic, and Plastic Surgery Institute, one of the top plastic surgery schools in all of Latin America where he graduated with Honors in 1988. To continue mastering his aesthetic skills, Dr. De La Garza completed a Plastic Surgery Fellowship at the University of California at Los Angeles School of Medicine. Upon completing his international fellowship, Dr. De La Garza knew he wanted to subspecialize and focus his professional career in treating hair loss problems.
After receiving the most intensive and in-depth training from two of the best teachers the world has to offer in the art of hair micro transplant, Dr. William Rassman and Dr. Robert Berstein in Los Angeles, Dr. Gaston De La Garza founded Gardel Hair Restoration Institute in Tijuana, Mexico in 1994.
Dr. Gaston De La Garza pioneered the use of high-resolution binaural microscope as well as the practice of “Mega Sessions” for hair transplant procedures in Mexico since 1998. He has treated more than 8,000 hair transplant patients from all over the world and has also returned to his Alma Mater, Guerrero Santos, as adjunct professor.
