THE BLEPHAROPLASTY PROCEDURE
After reviewing your case, if our surgeons determine that you are a candidate, they can begin to create your treatment plan. You will play an active role in the planning process to ensure that your results meet your needs and expectations.
Surgery begins with minute incisions. They may be created within your eyelid crease or inside your lower lid. Next, he will remove excess skin, tighten lax muscles, and, in some cases, reduce fat deposits. In other instances, he may reposition fat cells or perform a fat grafting procedure. After achieving the desired refinements, he will place dissolvable sutures to close the incisions.
RECOVERING FROM BLEPHAROPLASTY
Following surgery, you can expect some minor discomfort, bruising, and swelling. Bruising will usually subside in about two weeks but may not fully subside for a month. Typically, patients can cover bruising with makeup after a week. To minimize discomfort, we will provide medications and eye drops.
You will be advised to use a cold compress and sleep with your head elevated for a short time after surgery. You will also need to limit exercise and heavy lifting, usually for about four weeks. Our surgeons will provide detailed instructions regarding when to resume certain activities. Patients can usually return to work after 10 days. It may take up to a year to heal completely.
